subject: Know The 5 Signs In The Hypothyroidism Symptoms Checklist [print this page]

The body needs so many hormones in order to function properly. In fact, even the way that the body cells would be using energy, needs an important hormone to do so. This hormone is known as thyroxine, which is released by the thyroid gland. At times, there are certain conditions that can cause the thyroid to release insufficient amounts of thyroxine, leading to hypothyroidism. This condition poses a danger when left untreated, and therefore, it is necessary to know the five signs in the hypothyroidism symptoms checklist.

Hypothyroidism Symptoms Checklist

*Feeling tired, or fatigue, is one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Because there is an insufficient amount of thyroxine in the blood, the body can no longer make use of energy properly, hence the feeling of tiredness even though you did not indulge in strenuous activities.

*Have you felt unusually cold even though you see your friends sweating profusely due to the summer heat? Feeling unusually cold without much reason is one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, and therefore must be given due consideration.

*Having dry skin is another symptom of hypothyroidism. If you have not experienced your skin, getting dry before, and you just noticed it now, then it could be caused by low thyroxine levels in the body.

*An increase in weight is another indication of hypothyroidism. The inability of the body to use the energy properly can lead to accumulation of fats in the body. This will surely increase your weight without you having to eat much.

*The inability to concentrate is one of the indications of having low thyroxine levels. This is because the brain now lacks the energy that it needs to do mental processes.

Now that you have ascertained various symptoms for hypothyroidism, it is necessary to make a quick check if you are experiencing any of them.

If you find out that there are several symptoms that you are currently experiencing based on the hypothyroidism symptoms checklist, then it would be best to consult a doctor. That way you could be given the proper treatment.
