I am grateful just to write this short passage about my experiences in doing the affiliate marketing business. I have read stories of those that are making good money and making a great living out of this. So I say to myself, "I too would like to have that success. I would like to make me a living". But I don't know how or where to start.
Let me say a little about myself, I have been in employment in the UK for most of my life. I worked as a civil servant in the UK Home Office. I worked as trainer, training staff on IT, management, among other things. So when I resigned to start my first business in 2006 I had little business knowledge. Anyway, the business did not go the way I was hoping, so in 2008 I returned to the employee arena and worked as a training manager for UK National Health Service.
One good benefit from owning my business was that my experience general knowledge and confidence increased and I was able to ask for a 30% pay raise during my contract. Anyway, like all most contract work they eventually came to an end, so mine ended in May 2009. While thinking of what to do (I had my hand in a few business ventures) I came across affiliate marketing.
So as I am new to this area, I decided to look into it and due my due diligence.
If you do a Google search that should be up hundred's of sites and offers. This in it self was mind bogging for me. In fact too much choice can be just as bad as no choice.
Are all these claims to make money in short time frames really true? Or are they all 'too good to be true'?
So I literally took the first website making such claims and signed up for their free report, in fact I signed up for many free reports from many websites, watched so many videos and followed up on YouTube. I must say at this stage, I was not brave enough to part with my money. Although at times I was very tempted to try. In fact, I plucked the courage on one particular site as I had watched this particular person on YouTube, but when it came to payment of over $1000 for their basic entry level, I backed away as quickly as I got to the site.
In another of my searches I came across one young guy who had his video and spoke with a deep voice, this caught me to listen and after checking his YouTube site, I linked onto one of his affiliates and from there I linked on to another website which said make online $500 in 15 days or double your money back.
At the very least my money would have gained 100% after 15 days. Now this is an investment that I could afford although not lose. Yes I realized that I would have to work for it, Yes I will have to follow the system, Yes I would have to be keeping good records and I would also keep a journal of it. So that I can learn and grow from this and become an expert.
So my goal is to become an expert in 1 year. Tall order? Don't k
