Who'll Let the Dog Out
Who'll Let the Dog Out

Life sure changes with the beginning of the school year.

I guess the first thing I noticed happening differently was that there was no one to let the dog out when she had to "go". Our pound pup,Sophie, is potty trained and knows to go to the door when she wants to go outside. With the kids in the house, there was always someone around to let her out when they noticed her sitting patiently by the door.

The first day of school, there was just me and Sophie left in the house...and, honestly, I had forgotten all about her. That is until I walked by the door and saw her sitting there...she had to go out so bad she was literally shaking. I let her out, then spent a ton of time every day checking the door to see if she had to go out.

The Tell Bell Device

One night at the dinner table, I remarked how much time I was having to spend checking to see if Sophie was by the door waiting to be let out. One of the kids said we ought to get a Tell Bell like they'd seen on an As Seen On TV commercial. I'd never heard of it, so I checked it out on the web. Come to find out, it's a bell that sits on the floor that's activated when the dog steps on the plunger. It's really like those old counter bells you used to see at hotel reception counters, except this one's plunger is bigger and it's built better.

We spent the $26 (including shipping) and ordered the Tell Bell. It came with a written owner's guide and a DVD. We all watched the DVD, and made it a family project to house break Sophie with the Tell Bell. They said would take 10 to 12 days to fully potty train her to step on the plunger when she wanted to go outdoors. We all adhered to the suggested training method, and on the ninth day she rang the bell! Do you hear the "Halleleuyah Chorus"?

We are all so proud of ourselves and most proud of Sophie for learining how to use the Tell Bell. You could tell she is proud of herself, too. Every time she rings the bell, she stands there wagging her tail with the brightest, happiest look on her face. So the Tell Bell has made my daytime life easier, and Sophie's most assuredly more comfortable!
