1. Dell Disc ExampleLocate your Dell Driver CD and place in the CD drive on your computer. If you do not have the CD, jump down to Step 4. The CD is usually blue, purple or blue & gray and labeled "drivers." A screen appears asking you to make a selection of drivers that you need.
2 Open up another Window to view any drivers you are missing or are not installed correctly. Click on "Start" and go to the "Control Panel" on the right to complete this task. Then move to step 3.
3. Device ManagerClick on "System," and go to the "Device Manager." A yellow exclamation point indicates a device is not installed properly. This can include USB devices, Networking card (LAN), and many more. It is a routine process to install numerous devices because they are grouped together on the motherboard. The Dell CD will walk you through this process.
4 Click on the Dell website located in the resources section. Enter the Model Number of the Dell Desktop or Notebook computer you need the drivers for. Example: Dimension 4550 and then your operating system such as Windows XP or Vista.
5 Install the applicable Dell drivers for your model by downloading them from the website (in resources) or from the Dell restore CD. If your devices are working properly, you will not receive any error messages and your sound and Internet will now be restored.
