subject: Crackdown 2 [print this page]

If you have a good memory, you must remember that the first episode Crackdown had staked much of its success in providing access to the time the highly anticipated beta of Halo 3. Oh, it is true that Zone of the Enders had done the same with his demo of Metal Gear Solid 2, which did not prevent his followers from being clearly superior on all points, even becoming one of best action games for the PlayStation 2. So, Crackdown 2, new reference work cooperatively on Xbox 360? Clearly not.

The story of this series takes place in the same city as the first game, that is to say, Pacific City. But when we say the same, it really is the same: same streets, same overall architecture, etc.. A lot to offer in seconds for those who have returned the previous adventure a bad impression of "large area". The only changes are therefore mainly of scenery a bit more dilapidated than before and hostile encounters that will vary depending on whether you voluiez day or night. Indeed, in addition to the many factions enemies of unknown targets from one end to another of the game, zombies in Left 4 Dead play to invade the streets at night, it will also kill them if possible special weapons for more damage or by using your fists, see the tires of a vehicle to go even faster. Vehicles because yes, if you would not yet aware, Crackdown 2 is a sandbox game where you can then open a move across the city without any loading time. But believe me, it does not mean you will take a foot from hell.

Because we're bored in this game, but then good. Imagine. After a workout you will begin to experience the voice of your manager who will give you in single-and multi want to shoot you in the long (fortunately it is switched off), you start your last massacre in Pacific City, which for once is a very bad name. The first tasks of initiation completed, you are finally free to go to the goal you want, ranging from the activation of a device for integrating strategic points through a few races or closure nest of zombies. In all cases, except in racing, of course, no strategy will be adopted as sufficient to kill all the enemies who cross in front of you, avoiding if possible to reach some civilians for failing to police on back in any way insignificant. The trouble is that the game will not be renewed at any time and may well end in a half-dozen hours without any movement other than the script "bump everyone.

Fortunately, there are some good points in the gameplay, especially with this little RPG concept in building the character. Simply put, it has five characteristics that should be improved to make him a good fighter: agility, firearms, body-to-hand combat, explosives and driving. Depending on how you play, you gain experience bonus which will be added directly into one of these five points, for example if you kill enemies by shooting them, knocking them or using rocket launchers, see grenades. In each case, we can gain new weapons, increase our strength (to carry a car for example) and improve our accuracy. There are also driving demand, which then simply roll over your enemies, giving better control the long run and, finally, agility forcing you to search the levels in search of green orbs so you can skip increasingly high. An excellent idea, but nothing revolutionary as already present in the first.

Technically good, we had already noticed images and videos presented by the editor that it would not be the joy stick in hand, the result is the same: the game is not really beautiful. From a basic cell-shading, the game revolves around sets as empty as repetitive. As for enemies, we are dealing with the incarnation of the game generic but nonetheless manages to impress us from time to time with effects like explosions or successful enough when driving at night on highways overrun by zombies, with sometimes hundreds of creatures on the screen that take pleasure in crushing. Some bugs can be reported from time to time as vehicles to pass through NPC zombies or a camera that fits very poorly in our climb to the heights of buildings. Finally, the sound is a dubbing the carnage just sucks, almost non-existent music and sound effects that lack impact, with special mention to certain vehicles with engine sound eerily a machine wash full spin.

If the solo is to forget, we still mention one of the main novelties of this suite: the possibility of making the entire adventure cooperatively to four. No split of the online course, but just where nobody will strongly advise you to find good friends who will follow your instructions to the microphone to avoid excessive scatter. A method obviously less repetitive but fails to explode in interest ... There remains some classic multiplayer modes playable up to sixteen where they found the Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch mode and the equivalent of a skull Halo. What a little fun if you have nothing else to be put in the hand.

Leaving aside the title at its last conference, Microsoft had already understood that it was not a blockbuster that would move the crowds. Once in the console, the point is clear: Crackdown 2 is not improved by the concept of the first episode, already quite limited. We certainly have fun a couple of hours together (the time to finish what) to jump from rooftop to rooftop to kill every enemy or crushing dozens of zombies with each vehicle, but the adventure is not never forget. In short, if in 2007 the first Crackdown had established itself as a good start, its sequel in 2010 is likely to go unnoticed.
