subject: What You Need To Know About Article Marketing [print this page]

Anybody involved in web advertising will come face to face with article marketing at some point. Many people get confused and frustrated about article marketing due to all the hype and information overload about internet marketing that is out there at the minute. Nevertheless, it doesn't need to be confusing. As soon as you read this guide to article marketing, you'll possess a much better grasp on what to do.

The first topic everyone talks about all the time when it comes to article marketing is keyword research. Should you let it, it'll stop you cold from writing a single word. If you already have a website, the chances are you have already done some keyword research in order to write the content for the site. Now those keywords can do double duty for article marketing. If you have not already created a website or blog yet, then that really should be your first step before you ever start article marketing. You may be an affiliate trying to drive traffic to other people's sites in exchange for commissions, but really, you will want your own website if you are a serious internet marketer. Article marketing is designed to drive traffic to an existing website so you need to have a site of your own first. In fact, many of the major article marketing sites like EzineArticles won't even let you drive traffic directly to an affiliate website. Therefore, you have to have your own website with your own domain name (URL) in order to use many of the top article marketing services.

So, once you have built your own site about the products and services you want to sell, it is time to do article marketing. First, find about 2 or 3 keywords which accurately describe what your site is about. For example, my website is all about BBQ grills, or barbecue grills. People on the internet will search for both terms. Therefore, I am going to create pages of content all about grills, general content, and then more specific information on different kinds of grills. Now that I have my keywords, I need to think about keyword density. I would put the keyword in the first sentence of the article. For every paragraph in the article, I would use the phrase at least once. It really is that simple. I will then take the original article and create similar articles from it, keeping the keywords the same but varying the text in other ways.

Article marketing may sound like a lot of work but if you are just getting started with your website, you can plan your article marketing as part of your whole content creation process. For example, think of the kinds of articles that would be of interest to most people looking up BBQ Grills in the search engines. Then come up with some catchy titles like, "How to Choose a BBQ Grill," "How to Use a Charcoal BBQ Grill," or "Great BBQ Grill Recipes." Be sure each article is interesting and helpful for the reader. Then once you have posted the articles to your website, write different versions of the same article for the article marketing websites. People search for information, recipes and reviews on the internet. The more useful your website is, the more traffic you will have.

Once you have produced several versions of the same articles, it's time to post them at the article banks. Two of the top ones you will want to use are ArticleBase and EzineArticles. They both will work tremendously well for web page ranking. Once you have finished your three essential article marketing steps, keywording, writing and posting your articles, you will start to see results. And the more articles you post, the more traffic you will get. It's that simple. The only real disadvantages to article marketing are that it takes time to produce and post the content and the increase in your page ranking will also take several weeks to several months. It requires time for the links to develop and individuals to discover your website. Give it time and you'll do just fine.
