If you want to lower blood pressure fast then you have to include an exercise routine in your daily life. Now before you tune out at the word "exercise" let's examine what that really means and how you can benefit.

It's a fact that exercise is the fastest way known to reduce high blood pressure. Fast is defined as immediately after you cool down from the exercise. Normally your doctor will advise you to get in 30 minutes of daily aerobic exercise like walking or biking and that brings up images of your not so svelte self in ugly sweats huffing and puffing away.

What nobody seems to want to tell you is that the 30 minutes doesn't have to be continuous and it doesn't mean you have to wear sweats. Studies have proven that exercise has a cumulative affect on blood pressure which translates into you simply having to be more active in the day than you currently are.

Examples of being more active without really "exercising" are:

Treat yourself to a trip to the mall a couple of times a week. Park further away than you normally would and then spend an hour window shopping.

Working in your garden pulling weeds or pruning or simply digging around is also an easy, enjoyable exercise that does your heart good and also reduces stress

Park further away from work each morning, or if you park in a garage, use the steps and not the elevator to get to the lobby.

Find a place to eat lunch that is at least a ten minute walk from work. That translates into 20 minutes round trip. Coupled with your walk to your car, you've got your 30 minutes of exercise without even thinking about it.

Who knew housework was good for your heart. Vacuuming and anything that involves scrubbing (ughh) counts towards your exercise.

Dance like nobody is watching. Put on your favorite music and shake your thing. Knocks off points from your blood pressure reading and does wonders for lowering stress.

So what do you get for doing these non-exercising exercises?

A stronger heart muscle that doesn't require as much pressure to completely and efficiently pump blood out of the chamber thereby reducing the risk of congestive heart failure.

Blood vessels that are actually trained to expand and contract to efficiently pass blood with minimal pressure required. Even hardened vessels can benefit from the blood pushed through by exercises.

Reduced levels of adrenalin in the system. Exercise is the fastest way to burn off this heart racing chemical caused by stress.

More efficient lung function. Lungs, use em or lose em.

Lowering blood pressure fast through exercise is not a difficult or painful task. Just rethink the way you view physical activity and keep your life as active as you can. Your heart will thank you for it.
