subject: Finding Your Niche [print this page] Time and time again, I find that my coaching clients are always searching themselves trying to discover how to find their niche in their market. With a plethora of competition and an even bigger arena of options. How do you find it?
I always start by telling my clients that they must first discover what makes them happy. I know that this may sound way off key, but the truth of the matter is that if you don't first find out what you like and what stimulates your interests, you will not be able to discover where your niche begins.
I can almost guarantee that if you talk to anyone who has discovered their niche in their market and have found success in whatever it is they are doing, they first had to figure out what they like and what they want to do.
The very first thing to getting what you want out of life is this;.Decide what you want. The same goes for business.
Secondly, you must change your mindset. You must get out of the mindset of employee and into the mindset of employer. From a young age, most of us are taught and trained how to be an employee. We are told that we have to get good grades in school, graduate, go to college and get a good job. We are not trained on how to do all those things in preparation of becoming and employer. We are ingrained with the skills of a follower and not that of a leader. It pains me to say it, but unfortunately, it is the truth.
I also have found that they are those that are just born with business savvy. I am one of those people. I am not saying this to toot my own horn, but I am actually stating this to prove a simple point.
Although I am one of these people, for many years, I did not know this. I knew that I've always had the urge to start my own business. I was always researching things and I've always been really good with computers and social media outlets. I knew that I wanted my business to be a successful business and I knew that I wanted it to be a big business. But unfortunately for me, I didn't know what that business would be or what my niche would be.
After tons of ventures, independent contracting, full-time and part time jobs, I finally was able to see what my niche was and establish my place in the industry.
I was always the person that everyone came to for business, personal and relationship advice. If you want to know where to go, what to do and who to talk to.Call Randa! That was a staple among my many friends and family. And although I did not always follow my own advice and implement it properly, it was always good, solid and effective advice.
I discovered that consulting, coaching and mentoring was the business for me. It was something that I had been doing for years, I enjoyed it and it had the potential to make me a lot of money. I then combined it with network marketing and the rest is history.
I found my niche, began a successful business and am able to help others do the same in the process.
So there you have it. Finding your niche first begins with you..
