subject: The Humble Kiss [print this page]

I have vivid memories of kissing my husband while we were dating. Kissing all the time, as a welcome, a good bye, an l love you or a just want to be close to you kiss. Not the quick peck on the lips, or absent brush on the cheek, they were time stopping, totally connected kisses. We would spend hours just exploring each other's lips, often to the point of bruising. If it leads to more, then even better, but it was often just the act of touching, lips on lips were what we both craved.

We don't do that nearly as much anymore, and honestly not at all sure why. It's not that we don't want to; I think it just doesn't cross our minds. We get side tracked with all that's involved in day to day life, and we literally run through our daily events always thinking of what needs to be done, who needs what or how to get more done in a day.

When we do stop, close everything else out and just concentration on each other everything else literally melts away. His kiss re-centers me like nothing else can.

It instantly brings my stress level right down, clears my mind and I have a much calmer demeanor.

In the middle of writing this article, I had to go and really kiss my husband. I stopped him in the middle of his work, brought my face to his, looked into his eyes and kissed him. He instantly reacted and I can't tell you how much we both needed that. We hate being disconnected from one another and often we don't even realize it. There are days when a quick peck at night, before bed is all we make time for. I can't say that we won't go through days where we get caught up and just give each other a quick peck, but I can say that today, we remembered and it felt wonderful.
