Firstly there are a few misconceptions that need to be cleared up. Does a bigger list means more profits?

Yes and no.

Yes because you mail to more people but no if you are not doing these few key things.

1. Develop relationship with your prospects.

If the size of the mailing list was everything then spammers would be king. But honestly, if you have been around the block on the internet you don't even open spam.

So having a deep relationship with you prospects who know like and trust you is key to a successful email marketing campaign.

2. Target your messages to their wants.

The truth is that a poorly crafted ad aimed at the right market will out perform a stunning ad aimed at the wrong market.

Define your action plan based on the desires, wants, needs and problems of your leads. Simply give them what they want.

3. Treat them with respect.

"Buy now, Buy now, Buy now!" Does that sound like something that works?

The fact of the matter is that the people who subscribe to your mailing list a real people and they have feelings.

You goal is to treat them as you would want to be treated. This is closely related to relationship building.

Nevertheless the stronger the bond you have build based on mutual respect the better off you will be.

4. Get them to like you.

Have you ever had a friend that was full of it? Maybe he did some things that you didn't like but you excused it because "Hes still a nice guy."

Simple put people will tolerate you egocentricity if they like you. Even if you make a misstep and treat your list poorly if they have developed a friendly bond based on warm feelings towards you they will excuse your mistakes.
