Boniva generic name Ibandronate belongs to the class of drug known as bisphosphonates. Boniva is used for the treatment of Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is the bone disease that increases the risk of bone fracture. It is caused due to the deficiency of the mineral in the bone and intercepts the production of the bone and also disrupts the non-collagenous proteins of the bone. The occurrence of Osteoporosis disease is more common in women than compared to the men. In women it usually occurs after menopause also known as postmenopausal osteoporosis. Boniva 150mg medication is used for treating that cause the loss of bone and increase its production and help in preventing the bone fractures.

How should I take this medication?

Boniva tablet should be given once in a day daily during the treatment or as prescribed by the doctor and in some particular case it is given once in a month. Boniva injection is given once in 3 months. Drug Boniva should be given 1 hour before having meal or before having any kind of drinks and take this medication with water only. Do not take this medication of your own.Do not skip the medicine even if missed take it immediately and if it is time for the next medicine take it at the regular time, but do not take two medicine at a time. Do not skip Boniva osteoporosis medication, make a regular timing for taking this medicine and if you forget to take this medication, take it immediately if there is time for your regular schedule. Do not expose Boniva medication in heat, light and moisture always keep in dry and cool place. The patient should check the direction give in the label of the medication.

What are the possible side effects of using this drug?

The patient may induce Boniva side effects such as pain of chest, swallowing problem pain in the ribs or back, feel like heart burning, severe pain of joint, bone, muscles or jaw and feeling numbness. Boniva may also induce allergic reactions like hives, breathlessness, swelling on face, lips, tongue, and throat. It may make the mouth go dry, induce drowsiness and light headedness. Patient may feel weak and irritation. As it makes the skin more sensitive, the patient easily gets bruised, blisters and peeling of skin rash. Beside this, the patient may also feel headache, swelling or redness of the eyes, diarrhea disorder, nausea problem, cold and fever.

What precautions do I need to follow while using Boniva?

Patients having a problem of kidney, ulcer, esophagus and deficiency of vitamin D should not used this medication of your own if Boniva mg not prescribed by the doctor as patient suffering from the above disorder have to change the dosage. Pregnant women should not this medication without the doctor's recommendation for there is no proper information whether or not it harms the unborn child in the womb. Lactating mothers should consult their doctor before taking this medication because Boniva might pass into the breast milk and may harm to the nursed child though no such incidence has been reported yet.
