If you are doing the same things on a regular basis, you can get them done faster if you learn how to be more efficient while using your computer. Learn some basics tips that will help you improve your performance so you can get more done while using your computer.

Start off by learning keyboard commands. There are commands that you can use for your operating system and for each program you use. Not all of these have to be memorized, but it's good to learn the most common tasks that you do on a regular basis. This alone will make you way more efficient while using your computer.

Be sure that you learn your basic typing skills. You don't have to be really fast, but it's still nice to be able to type quickly as it's an important part of using a computer. If you haven't learned to type, get a program and take the time to learn how. It won't take you as long as you think.

Deal with virus and spyware issues. These tend to slow your machine down. Get proper protection and keep it updated and running. It's a horrible idea to not have any protection as it will ruin your computer's efficiency as everything will take longer to load.

Make sure your most used programs are easy to launch. This way you can quickly open the things that you use the most without having to search for the icon.

Turn off programs that you don't need running while doing other things. Many make the mistake of slowing down their machines by leaving too many things open at once.

If you have an older machine, you might have to upgrade the hardware to get more efficiency. The best thing you can do is maximize the RAM your computer can use to have a faster machine. This is also the cheapest upgrade to make in terms of hardware.
