1 Plan in advance It is always better to plan at least 2 months in advance for the big events. Planning in advance will give you sufficient time to look for various vendors and choose the best option. You can also negotiate well if you are planning well ahead in time.
2 Make list It is very important to make list of guests, vendors, venue options and your budget .Rule of thumb is to have as clear plan as possible for the upcoming events. It's good to have a common notebook or diary for all the activities related with that event like guests list, items list etc.
3 Assign Responsibility It is very probable that you will not be the only person involved so assign responsibility to your friends and close family members. For e.g. your uncle who is an accountant can handle the responsibility of dealing and negotiating with vendors. It is important that roles and responsibilities are clearly assigned to all involved.
4 Choosing Vendors If you work a little hard and meet with at least 3-4 vendors in each area like catering you will have a very good idea of the market price and the quality.
5 Never Compromise in quality If you want to save a few bucks in your food and music bills then remember that in the long run it is the food and music only which all the coming guests are going to remember so never compromise on them.
6 Empowerment and Participation If you are the head of the family then you are going o take all the major decisions but it is good to have regular meetings with friends and family to take their views and opinions. In this way there will be a jolly environment and everyone will participate actively
