subject: An Introduction To Set Up Nintendo Ds Local Wireless Connection [print this page]

Would you like to play a Nintendo DS game with your friends? It is a bad thing if you don't know how to set up your console and your friend's system isn't it?

Before you follow the guide step-by-step below, you should know that there are two types of multiplayer game play: Multicard Play and DS Download Play. Multicard Play requires each player has a copy of game on each Nintendo DS console while DS Download Play requires one console has a copy of the game. The Multi-Card Play often offers players more game options than DS Download Play.

There are also two types of the connections: local wireless and Wi-Fi connections. The local wireless connection is used for connecting two or more consoles locally while Wi-Fi connection requires a router to connect the consoles. Wi-Fi connection can also be used for accessing Internet in a hotspot area. (Wi-Fi is the standard wireless connection - used in computer networking.) Nintendo DS consoles use wireless connection.

How to setup local wireless connection by using the games featuring DS Download play? As follows:

1. Firstly, turn your Nintendo DS on and make sure you have inserted the game card into the system slot.

2. Tap the screen by using the stylus when the "Touch the Touch Screen to continue" message appears. If the Startup Mode is set to Manual, tap on the box for the Nintendo DS Card Slot by the stylus to start the game. But if the Startup Mode of the host DS console is set to automatic, the menu of the game will appear.

3. Turn on the other Nintendo DS console which will be connected to the systems to run the game. Tap on "DS Download Play" icon.

4. Then the list of available games will be displayed. Tap one of the titles you want to play to start to download the game.

5. Make sure you know the multiplayer directions to game which you will play with your friends.

Multiple Game Cards Play

To play this kind of games, you have to see its instruction carefully by yourself. Each game has its own setting.

If you don't want to have some difficulty in connecting your system wirelessly, make sure that there is no signal interference from other devices. The devices that can bring the problems are usually wireless LAN, microwave ovens, computers, cordless devices, and so on. It is advisable to turn the interfering devices off, or move to the other place where are free from signal interference.
