subject: The Importance Of Inline Fans In A Hydroponics Garden [print this page]

One of the most overlooked items in the hydroponics garden today is the inline exhaust fan. The inline fan is your tool for mastering air flow. Understanding air flow is an integral part of the indoor growing process and can lead to a healthier and heavier final product. These days, one of the most popular items in the hydroponics garden is the grow tent. So for an example, we decided to use a grow tent to illustrate the importance of an inline fan in your grow space.

Grow tents have come of age over the last several years to become an integral part of any grow operation for many reasons. Depending on which one you use, they can effectively contain the components of your artificial ecosystem; water, growing medium, air, and light. For our purposes, we chose a Positronics Lighting Systems 4 x 8 grow tent and 6 inch inline fan as well as a cool tube reflector complete grow light system to our cause. The grow tent was perfect as it had the proper air flow venting for both the lights and the grow space. A few things to look for when choosing a grow tent is first off, it must be light-proof, come with a removable water-proof bottom tray that is washable, thick gauge double reinforced nylon construction, heavy duty zippers, sturdy enough to hold your lights an fan, and of course, plenty of openings for air flow. Where the Positronics products came in handy most was the cool tube reflector and inline fan as it has the proper openings for both.

We always recommend two inline fans in your grow tent or grow room. One to exhaust air to aid respiration and keep the room cool, and the other to keep your lights from heating up and burning your plants. Hot air can slow or even arrest respiration. An inline fan can aid in plant respiration in two ways. First, an inline fan used as an exhaust fan maintains the proper temperature by removing hot air from the room (we also recommend using a carbon filter for odor control). Second, an inline fan supplies essential carbon dioxide and expels the oxygen created by respiration. We maintained the proper temperature in our grow tent easily with a 6 inch inline exhaust fan from Positronics Lighting Systems. They are lightweight, durable, efficient, and inexpensive. While other inline exhaust fans and blowers are made from heavy and bulky steel, Positronics has come up with a sleek new design incorporating a highly durable polymer resin that absorbs more vibration and is much easier to work with in tight spaces than the competition - perfect for hanging in the spaces provided within our grow tent.

After outfitting our hydroponics garden with the proper equipment, it ran smoothly and efficiently. We maintained the proper temperature and introduced plenty of carbon dioxide to our plants. Growth was lush and hardy as keeping the temperature in the proper range will reduce stretching and fresh air will aid in rapid cell growth. Plants produce more in terms of size and weight. There are also other ancillary benefits as well. Plants grown in optimal conditions tend to recover from stress quicker. Such conditions also promote flowering on time instead of the chance that they could not finish properly. The final product is healthier, heavier, and more desirable when you take the time to use the right tools for the job.
