2009:

Mo Brooks actively campaigned for, contributed to, and publicly endorsed both Rep. Phil Williams and Senator Paul Sanford in their successful special elections.

1Only elected Republican legislator north of Birmingham.

2Only elected Republican legislator north of Birmingham. Elected, House Republican Minority Leader.

3Only elected Republican legislator in Tennessee Valley. Elected, House Republican Minority Leader.

4Madison County-wide vote. No Republican has ever been elected Madison County District Attorney. 1992 was a challenging year for Republicans. Mo Brooks' 46% vote was the second highest of any Republican running county-wide (1% below that of incumbent President George Bush). The former D.A. (and then Congressman) Democrat Bud Cramer worked hard for fellow Democrat Tim Morgan, who won.

5Rob Colson was an 8-year Madison County Commission Republican incumbent.

6Mo Brooks was outspent 20-1 by Luther Strange and 10-1 by George Wallace, yet received more votes than Strange & Wallace combined in the 5th Congressional District. Statewide, however, the results were Strange 48%, Wallace 33%, Brooks 16% and Adams 3%. The lesson from this race: never be badly outspent again.
