subject: San Diego Padres - A Team With High Hopes [print this page]

Baseball is the most popular sport in the United States. The main league that is played and watched is the Major baseball league. Every state is known to have a team that represents them. In some cases, one state is known to have more than one team that represents them. This is the same case with the state of California. They are known to have to baseball teams that play in the big leagues. The one that we are going to look at today is the San Diego Padres.

Even though the San Diego Padres have been around for quite some time now, they have not been able to reach the height of success as they would have hoped to. The San Diego Padres came into existence in the year 1969. The San Diego Padres have only won the National League Pennant twice. These victories took place in the year 1984 and 1998.

Seeing as every baseball team is known to have a number of different uniforms, we take a look at the uniforms that are worn by the San Diego Padres. The San Diego Padres are known to have four different uniforms. Their home kit is a standard white trousers and shirt. This is contrasted with a navy blue cap and socks. The away kit for the San Diego Padres is quite similar to the home uniform with one major difference. Instead of the shirt and trousers being white, the away uniform is a sand color. The other two uniforms are occasionally used.

The home kit for the San Diego Padres is known to have the word "Padres" that runs across the jersey. However for the away kit, the word "San Diego" is used instead. Both the fonts used on either jersey are different from one another.

Every state is known to have a symbol which is used as a cap insignia. The San Diego Padres cap insignia is known to be compromised of the letters "S" and "D". These two letters are joined together to make them look like one word. The letters that are used on the cap are known to be white in color where as the background is navy blue.

The San Diego Padres team logo is quite detailed in comparison to other baseball team logos. The main aspect of the logo is the word "Padres" that goes across the center. The word "San Diego" is written in the top right hand corner in a much smaller font. The remainder of the logo is self explanatory with an upside down house shape outline accompanied by a few blue waves towards the bottom.

The management of the San Diego Padres has done quite a good job of making the team what it is today. However due to the lack of silverware earned, there has been a lot of speculation that the owners will be changed.

There are many souvenirs including the team uniform that can be purchased from the San Diego Padres official online web store.
