subject: Terry Hansen Explains The Importance Of Concentration for Success [print this page] One of the most vital and important abilities to have in life is to concentrate. Now so that you fully understand where Terry Hansen (that's me) is coming from on this let me expand and delve into this a bit.
If we look in the dictionary the word concentrate means.
CONCENTRATE: v. 1. To direct or draw toward a common center; focus. 2. To direct
one's thoughts or attention.
CONCENTRATION: n. 1. The act or process of concentrating, especially the fixing of
close, undivided attention.
The reason CONCENTRATION is such a vital ability can be most easily demonstrated with sports or anything where you need to perform.
Imagine being an athlete. Lets say a pro football player. You are to play in a stadium with 50,000 screaming, crazy fans. You can imagine you would need to concentrate. Any momentary lack of concentration or lack of focus and you could easily mess up a play entirely.
Same thing goes for any body doing any kind of performance.
Now what many people don't realize is how much focus is needed for anyone anywhere to achieve their goals.
Let's say you have a goal to become a millionaire. For you to become a millionaire you will most likely need to find a business or start a new business, put together a business plan, advertise, hire employees, learn about your market, produce a prodcut or do a service, you will need to learn about investing and wise money management, you will need to save your money and invest tons of time, energy and money into every facet of making that money. That list is not even half of what it really takes. To achieve your goal you the key ingredient needed is long term, day in and day out FOCUS or concentration.
Concentration and focus is the difficult part because there are so many distractions that pull us off our goals. These disctrations can be just the minutia of life or more potently negative beliefs, people and enviroments.
The key to maintaining focus and concetration is to continually handle and elimate that which is disrupting your focus.
Make a commitment to yourself to focus and not let anything or anyone break your concentrated effort towards your goals.
Apply a new level of concentration and focus and watch your results soar.
