Consider a scenario where in you are working with QuickBooks 9. In this, you are trying to update the Payroll, but fail to do so. This error message is displayed as a result, that is:

Cause:

Resolution:

To resolve this situation, you should recover the QuickBooks database file. To do this, you should perform the following steps:

Exit QuickBooks.

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Control Panel.

Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

Select QuickBooks from the list and click Change/Remove.

Click Next in the QuickBooks Installation window.

Repair in the QuickBooks Maintenance window and click Next.

Click the Repair button and wait until you can click Finish in the QuickBooks Maintenance Complete window.

Start QuickBooks.

Run the payroll again. It should work fine now.

However, If the problem is persisting even after performing the aforementioned recovery steps, then you should use a third-party QuickBooks file recovery software to do the needful. Such read-only tools recover QBW database without overwriting them using fast yet sophisticated scanning algorithms.
