Homemade smoothies are a favorite of mine that are both healthy and refreshing in the morning. The first ingredient is your favorite juice such as orange juice or in my case Five Alive. I always make sure there's some in the refrigerator before I go to bed so I don't have the inconvenience of making it in the morning. Using a blender pour in a couple cups of juice and add a whole banana after peeling it of course. With the lid on select a slower blending speed and run until banana is blended in with juice. Now add some frozen fruit such strawberries, peaches, raspberries, or blueberries. These frozen fruits are readily available in the frozen foods isle of most grocery stores. Mixed frozen fruits are also typically available. After another additional minute of blending you will have a fresh icy drink that is both tasty and wakes you up.

Another simple breakfast idea that is hot and fast to make is waffles. Waffle batter can be very quickly prepared with Bisquick or a similar product in just a few minutes, or can even be done before heading to bed providing the batter is kept refrigerated. Once an electric waffle iron is pre heated each waffle will only take three to four minutes to fully cook and breakfast is served. And as an added bonus waffle irons really don't even need cleaning every morning after use as their non stick surface remains very clean. If you have kids try adding some miniature chocolate chips to the batter or search the internet for additional waffle recipes.

Another option is to make a breakfast casserole at the beginning of the week such as Sunday night before heading to bed. A quick search on the internet will provide many taste bud tempting recipes. Just make sure not to eat your breakfast for tomorrow when taking it of the oven. With the casserole cut into individual serving sizes place in Ziploc storage containers. Now either refrigerate for breakfast during the week or place in the freezer for weeks ahead. After reheating in a microwave you now have a breakfast that can be enjoyed either at home or taken to work.
