subject: Learning About What Is Taught In Beauty School [print this page]

Beauty schools cover a variety of topics that are unknown to the outside observer. In addition, to the beautifying techniques that students learn, students are also taught a variety of topics including ethics and safety.

In addition, they are also often taught a variety of business classes as many students open their own business when they leave school. There are also a variety of topics that each student can emphasize in.

One emphasis is that of a manicurist or nail technician. The tasks of a nail technician or manicurist include trimming and filing nails, taking care of the cuticles, and preparing and painting nails.

These things are all taught in beginning classes. They are also taught how to apply and work with artificial nails.

Nail wraps, sculpturing and application of decals and gems are also learned. These things are considered to be basic in the realm of beauty classes.

Pedicurists take similar classes as the manicurists as far as nail care and beautification. However, they are also responsible for extended knowledge of the feet and take more classes concerning anatomy and foot pathology.

They also learn about treatments for things such as athlete's foot and other common foot diseases. Students who decide to extend their studies may learn about other things such as paraffin wax, hot oil treatments, and massage.

Another emphasis in the beauty realm is a hair stylist. In the basic classes for a hair stylist, a student may learn about the basic ways in which to cut all lengths of hair.

Hair usually comes in three different lengths including long, medium and short. There are also several categories of styles of ways to cut hair.

These categories include plateau, movement, and curving cuts. When they have mastered these basics, hair stylist students will begin to learn about and how to apply more complicated cutting techniques, coloring, foils, fringe pins, bleaches, and permanents.

Barbers are similar to hair stylists except they place an emphasis on cutting men's hair. They study cutting, shaping, coloring, and shaving the hair of men.

They learn about these techniques not only for the tops of a man's head, but the beard and mustache as well. The main difference between barbers and hair stylists beside the emphasis of dealing with men is that they receive special classes on how to shave.

Another emphasis in the realm of beauty is aesthetician classes. These classes put a special emphasis on skin analysis, toning, cleansing, massage and nutrition, and moisturizing.

Most of the time beauty schools will offer advance classes on using esoteric techniques. Esoteric techniques include learning how to use herbal body wraps, esthetic muds and algae.

Aestheticians also study hair removal in many cases. Some of the techniques they may learn include waxing, chemicals, electrolysis, and laser removal treatments.

These students may also receive some basic training on psychology, hair, makeup and dress. The basics are important to know for all beauty students.

Another area of emphasis in the realm of beauty is a medical aesthetician. In addition to all of the classes received by an aesthetician, a medical aesthetician will also take classes on skin diseases, anatomy and physiology, biology, bacteriology, and so forth.

They may also receive classes on makeup and how to use it to camouflage skin or facial problems. Dermatological skin care and how to treat skin changes that come with hormonal changes may also be areas of study for a medical aesthetician.

Despite all of side studies of science and medicine, the study of beauty is really a study of art. In addition to all of the technical things taught in beauty school, the appreciation of beauty is also taught.

It is firmly understood in beauty school that you cannot give someone beauty unless you learn how to appreciate it first. If you do not appreciate it, you will not know how to make a person more beautiful.

In addition, it is also important for students to understand that no one will trust you to make them beautiful, if you are a horrible hygiene mess. The clearer a viewer understands that a beautician's looks come from constant effort, the more they will trust that beautician with his or her looks.

As you take care of yourself and pursue simple elements of beauty, you will gain an appreciation for beauty. You may also experience a greater level of self-confidence, success in the work field, and a number of other improvements in your daily life.
