subject: The Facts That You Might Like To Know Before Your Office Switched To A Different Utilities Supplier [print this page]

This is the case as a business can be spending way too much on energy bills and by taking a little time to make office cut-backs they can significantly reduce the company's outgoings and also reduce the levels of carbon that your office is producing.

With this in mind, let's help you achieve this within your own company as here are some tips to help you minimise your energy consumption and just some pieces of advice to help you know about the process of investigating energy supplies.

1) Firstly, as the manager of the company you can sort out an audit of energy consumption. An audit involves an energy specialist coming to your business and assessing your energy needs and output levels. There are essentially three types of audits: there is the basic audit, the visual basic and the comprehensive. With one of these methods you could seriously cut-backs on office energy consumption.

Visual Inspection - This type of audit is the most cost-effective and it involves booking an appointment for a trained specialist to your building and performing a detailed visual inspection of your energy output. By doing this they can identify when an office is inefficiently using too much energy and will then be able to make suggestions on how to reduce energy levels.

Basic Energy Efficiency Audit - This will usually involve a set of test that use gauges and measuring equipment to work out how much energy is being used in the building. With this type of equipment the specialist will be able to determine the key areas of energy loss that are not always noticeable, such as the energy lost between walls.

Comprehensive Energy Efficiency Analysis - This takes the form of a computer based analysis which can assess the input and output levels of a given building, such as your office. A print out is then produced which gives details of where energy is being lost and how best rectify the problem, for example how to manage the IT energy usage and how to implement better working habits.

2) By swapping your energy supplier you many even be able to achieve a government tax break. Not every company meets the criteria but depending on your location you may be able to apply for a tax break or subsidy, which will reduce your tax bill for the year. This is the case as many governmental bodies have decided to minimise their energy output levels and become more environmental. So you should therefore do a little research of what schemes are available in your area and as a result you could save your company a significant amount of money.

3) Why not research solar polar? This renewable energy could be great for your business. Many companies are now making the move towards solar powered technology. They are buying the panels and putting them over their roofs and then instantly reducing their energy bills, in one fell swoop. Before you do anything else, you should work out how much energy your business is currently using and if switching to solar panels will actually be cost-effective. However, you may still need to adopt other measures as a way to seriously minimise energy levels to make them much more affordable.

By performing this type of assessment your firm will then be more informed and will be able to minimise energy levels for the office and at the same time increase office efficiency. This is also ideal if you are intending to sell or lease out the office as you will then be able to get a higher price for the building. For instance, a company that I work with recently decided to buy a London office then improved their business gas prices and then when they decided to sell they got a better value for the property.
