subject: My Calling As A Teacher [print this page] Everything comes from GOD aloneEverything comes from GOD alone. Everything lives by His purpose, by His principles, and by His design; and everything is for His glory. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank of life- everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him.
So is a TEACHER, teaching with a purpose.
Teaching is indeed the noblest vocation here on earth for a teacher is always motivated by LOVE and PASSION; for teaching is sharing, sacrificing, and inspiring life itself. And in order to communicate passion, one must live it. It is a life that is 100% committed to SERVICE.
I believe it is virtually impossible to teach and nurture others if I am not personally committed to my calling as a teacher. It is not enough for me to teach and to transfer knowledge and skills to my students. As a teacher, my ultimate objective should always be to change minds and move hearts because a teacher should really teach with passion and inspire others to let their hearts and minds open to change.
I strongly believe to what Haim Ginott stated about teaching:
"I've come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in
the classroom. It's my daily personal approach that creates the climate. It's my
daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess tremendous power
to make a child's life miserable or joyous. i can be a tool of torture or an
instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations
it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated,
and a child humanized or de-humanized."
With this indispensable role as a teacher, first, I should be proud of who I am and what I do as a teacher. Knowing why I am teaching will always make me proud of this noblest profession.
Secondly, I should always master the ART of TEACHING. Whenever I face my students, I should always be 100% ready in words, in thoughts, and in deeds. It's in the
how I share and inspire the lives of my students that matters.
Thirdly, teaching is learning for life. I should always advance myself as a teacher
of knowledge, skills, and motivations by continuously pursuing post graduate studies
and by making my self positive and available to new teaching trends, approaches and
strategies the Department of Education is endlessly offering to teachers through trainings, workshops and conferences whose ultimate goal is to improve the quality of education the teachers are transfering to their clientele- the students.
I also never give up. As a teacher, I am never afraid to take risks, to face the difficulties and burdens of being a mentor. It's my passion to teaching that makes me strong and stand to the tests of time and the downs of life.
Lastly, every activity of a teacher can be transformed into an act of worship when you do it for the praise, glory and pleasure of GOD. If I am truly teaching with a purpose, I must always put eternal value in every task I do, in every word I speak, and in every idea I think.
The wholity of my being a teacher must be a mirror of GOD's LOVE and LIGHT to all- to my
students, to my co-educators, and to the people of my immediate community.
This is my calling, a teacher who is called by GOD to shape STUDENTS' LIVES
through educational excellence for social transformation.
