Through their Marketplace, you can select which product you want to promote. If you are not into digital products, you can join Amazon Associate Program and later send traffic to Amazon.com.
For traffic generation, I can only recommend article marketing for beginners. Aritlce marketing is great for generating traffic. This is where you write related articles and submit them to article directories. I recommend that you submit your articles to EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com, ArticleDashboard.com and ArticlesBase.com
But since article directories do not allow you to promote your affiliate product within your article, you need to build yourself a website. Your website is the one that will be promoting your affiliate product.

Don't worry about building a website, it's easy. With Web 2.0, Ajax, everything is just point and click. No coding and programming needed.
Since you don't want to spend any money, you can use services like Blogger.com, Weebly.com or BlinkWeb.com. A single page website is enough where you write something about the product you are promoting. I recommend either a product review where your pour your heart out, or you write a tutorial on how to use the product. Though you don't want to spend money, I would recommend that you at least buy the product you are promoting, so you can promote better.
Don't forget to use your affiliate link when you link to your affiliate product. You can get the right link from the control panel of your affiliate program.
Now you have your website ready, we need to make sure that people who are reading your articles at article directories can get to your website.
When writing an article, you are allowed to write a bio for the author.
This is where you link back to your website. Most people simply write something that builds up the author. But I wouldn't recommend that because does not get people to click to see your website. Instead write something like, "If you want to know how you can help dogs with arthritis, click over to my website."
Alright, in summary, people will find your articles at article directories. And from there people will find your website from your bio. At your website, they will read your review or your tutorial. Then they will click on your affiliate link and get the vendor that is selling the product.
Maybe you think that this is too much work. Maybe you think that the process is too long. Don't worry about it, this works. Maybe it won't work right away. But it does.
