subject: Choosing The Vacation For You [print this page]

When you start planning, you should decide what kind of vacation you want. You will need to consider who is joining you and what they like to do. Careful planning is a good first step because everyone needs to be happy with the trip.

A Group of Singles

You'll want something fast-paced and exciting if you are traveling with a bunch of singles. You may think about:

A resort that will provide, hotels, dining, entertainment and other things to do.

A tour where you have time to explore yourself, as well as see sights around the country.

Hiring a mini-van, SUV or camper, touring under your own steam. You'll still benefit from good planning.

Backpacking can be fun with a group of people.

You'll also probably have a lot of fun on a cruise.

For the Family

The biggest factor will probably be keeping your children entertained. Seaside resorts will offer many children's activities.

Children will have fun hiking and seeing nature.

Farm holidays are a great experience for children, providing a back-to-nature experience that keeps them busy feeding animals, cleaning out barns, horseback riding and walking for miles. This will be a nice, rustic vacation that will also have farm fresh produce on meal times.

Romantic Getaways

Romantic getaways should be quieter and peaceful. Look for something on the countryside with great dining. Romantic getaways involves privacy and flexibility.

Maturity

Your options will be more diverse when the kids leave home. Museums and monuments are opened to discussion because you don't have to deal with fidgety kids. With a partner or friends, a casino vacation would be fun. You can get some nice relaxation time in at a spa retreat.

There is a vacation for all interests. If you are travelling with mixed age groups, for instance kids and grandparents, you might want to consider taking turns with activities that cater to different interests and age groups so that everyone has a good time.
