subject: What An Iso 9001 Certification Can Do For You [print this page]

When it comes to doing business, most business owners would, of course, want to give their clients only the best in terms of products, services, and even after-sales experience. In order to do this, they must first have a set standard in place that would guide them on how to handle different situations. Most of the companies that have these standards in place would usually want their clients to know just how high their standards are and would usually seek to have an ISO 9001 certification.

The ISO 9001:2008 is a part of a family of set standards that focus on quality management. It specifically concerns itself with the procedural and documentation requirements when it comes to quality management. Any company applying for this certification would first have to undergo a self-audit before a third-party ISO registrar can audit it and deem it qualified for the certification.

But why do companies seek ISO certification when they can just let their clients know via an announcement what kind of quality they have?

Having an ISO certification is way more than just having bragging rights about your companys standards. For one, it ups the existing standards in your company while reducing the costs involved in running your day-to-day operational activities. This lowering of costs is actually brought about by better control and flow of work as well as greater employee quality awareness. Because of this awareness, the employees usually take it upon themselves to make their work right the first time.

An ISO certification 9001 also makes it possible for your company to get access to a different kind of market, the one that favors only those with the highest of standards. If you would like to make it big in the international scene or would like to get business from industry giants, an ISO certification could make it possible for you to do so.

Keep in mind, however, that having an ISO certification sometimes does not necessarily translate to better end quality products or services. Having an ISO registration could, at times, only mean that a company has a great documentation and work flow system but does not really have the people, the machine, and the capability to come up with quality products and services. There are also times when a company only complies with set standards during the first part of its registration.
