Reuters has reported that Google will launch a music download and streaming service before Christmas this year. Google is in talks with some record labels about it.
Google's vice president of engineering and one of the key figures behind the company's Android mobile operating system, Andy Rubin, is said to have been advanced conversations with the music industry.
Google music service will be a music download store, and of course it will be Apple's iTunes competitor who is known as leading company of digital music, and also other services like digital Play and Amazon. Other services offered by Google is "digital music" locker that will store the music collection that can be accessed from a variety of Internet-enabled devices.

Google reveals some details about the plan this music service in late May, at an event in California. This service will be closely linked to the Android mobile operating system, and may even be launched simultaneously with the release of Android 2.2, the next software update for the platform.
Google's plan will mark a new phase in its competition with Apple. Both companies will be competing in some developing regions, in all its variety of products, including mobile phones, desktop operating systems, music and online advertising.
Google has not commented further about this music service, but one informant who did not want to be named, said the search giant believes the label can really compete with Apple.
"This is an entity with the reach, resources and ability to take on iTunes as a tough competitor with a tie into the search and the Android mobile platform," said the informant told Reuters. "What you have is a very strong player in the market and it is good for the music business."
Apple expected to launch their own cloud-based iTunes service as soon as possible. They had acquired Lala, the music streaming service, years ago at a cost that is not disclosed. Google also has jolted the business in this sector, they bought remote media company, called Simplify Media.
Cloud-based streaming services like We7 and Spotify are growing in popularity among consumers, and many industry experts believe that Google and Apple will be watching with interest the market.
"If Google get it right, it will accelerate the transition by the consumer of the music you have to have the music you need access everywhere," said Ted Cohen, a former executive at EMI, Reuters reported.
