subject: Kamino: A Planet In The Star Wars Universe [print this page]

Located beyond the Outer Rim, south of the Rishi Maze, the remote Kamino was a hostile world entirely covered by water, it is the habitat of Kaminoans, brilliant scientists known to have developed techniques cloning very sophisticated.

Before the sudden climate change that had led to total flooding of the planet, Kaminoans lived in a completely different environment. A terrible ice age had destroyed the natural resources of Kamino, the seas had frozen and people had to found colonies, thanks to that they survived for several generations, but the worst was yet to come.

At the end of the ice age, the sky took charge of storm clouds and the ice began to melt, the flood that followed was the greatest cataclysm in the history of the planet ... However Kaminoiens survived because they had the intelligence to build cities on stilts in a Spartan style curve, only colored white and gray or blue.

Count Dooku, after killing the Jedi Master Sifo Dryas, commanded by impersonating the latter, an army of clones for the Republic modeled after the bounty hunter Jango Fett. The Kaminoans set to work to provide the best new army of the Republic.

Attacked two months after the Battle of Geonosis, the planet was protected by a good number of Jedi, but also by more independent clones, named ARC.

When the Republic was reorganized into Galactic Empire, the Clone Troopers evolved gradually towards the Stormtroopers, consisting of clones created from other hosts as well as civilian volunteers, but less talented.

The capital of Kamino is Tipoca City, formerly a quiet town, became a huge center of cloning.

When Jedi Master Sifo-Dryas passed command of an army of over one million clones from Kaminoans or more precisely Lama Su, Prime Minister of Kamino, and his scientific advisor Taun We, a huge and complex process was started under the direction of the latter. The Kaminoans were considered masters in the art of cloning, with the quality of their production. Their method was slow, but totally safe. They had developed a technique that allowed them to aging to produce a clone adult, fully trained and ready to fight in less than ten years.

Although they usually work on clones (clones being for them as products), they never had control as important as that of Sifo-Dryas.

Many cities and centers of Kamino cloning began to work, but the main unit was at Tipoca City, where the modules were implanted embryo development. The huge facility was established quarantine floating discs, groups of six attached to columns glow. Each of these discs contain hundreds or thousands of transparent cylinders, each containing an embryo. The center of cloning was completely sterilized to avoid contamination, so visitors had to admire the room eggs behind a large bay window.

The largest facility Tipoca City was the training center, where the clones were living in community. Depending on the architecture of Kamino, the main building was divided into several concentric rings, whose organization was a military precision: each ring housed a different age group and there were sub-divisions consist of training halls , shooting range, learning rooms and dormitories. The Kaminoans had everything planned in detail and the clones were going from one facility to another by following a well-established order.

The subjects ate the traditional way, they had a cafeteria for each meal of the day. Special dietary regimes provided them the necessary elements for their growth, but their feeding process still followed the same routine. They always sat in the same place (the hierarchy of the army) and as soon as the meal ended, they rose as one man and would rid their shelves.

Baran Wu is a station on the hidden planet Kamino in the universe of Star Wars. With the station Of Su, they produced two million additional clones after the million created by the main station Tipoca City.Baran Wu is positioned in the northern regions of Kamino for security reasons. The clones created Baran Wu came to maturity after the Battle of Geonosis.
