subject: What Information Do You Have On The Android Os? [print this page]

By now you know that the Android OS is being used by cellular phone developers of just about every stripe. You've probably read the articles that say the "Google phones" are highly competitive against the other smart phones out there. It is definitely true that the Google phones are getting to be more popular every day. It might be because the Google phones that are hitting the market now are modeled on smart phones that have already become exceedingly popular. Google has obviously been paying attention to what people want to buy and is trying very hard to give it to them. The following are some great facts about the Android OS that you might not yet know.

Unlike most of the more popular smart phones on the market (like the iPhone), you can buy phones that use the Android OS from pretty much every wireless provider. T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and other major providers carry Android OS phones and usually in a variety of models. The variety is welcome for people who are not thrilled about the idea of being forced to use a certain provider or who live in a place that does not have certain providers' coverage. Things might be different a few years from now when the iPhone is available outside of one provider but right now the Android OS phones are the most widely available smart phone. IPhones are regularly outsold by phones using the Android OS. In six states, especially, the phones that use the Android OS are vastly outselling iPhones. The only problem with this study is that the states that sell more Android phones are not as developed and probably don't actually have AT&T coverage. IPhones are currently exclusive to AT&T so that probably influences these studies by quite a bit. If AT&T loses their exclusive iPhone contract, the numbers might change and the study will have to be repeated.

Recent studies show that, especially where Android OS phones are concerned, men use smart phones more than women do. While the study does not say why, it illustrates the fact that men are simply more likely to choose smart phones across the board than women are. The study does show that, in terms of the iPhone, that gap is actually much smaller. A little more than half of the iPhone users are men. When looking at the Android, on the other hand, about three quarters of the users are men. We can't figure out why this is. Maybe this is because men seem to be a lot more likely to run out and buy new technology? There is no definitive reason for the study numbers to be what they are. Google phones are shrouded in as many facts as rumors. The simple fact is that phones that use the Android OS (like the Google phones) are being sold all over the mobile market. Mobile developers are using the Android OS all the time now (HTC, Motorola and Samsung are good examples of this). You'll be glad to know that buying a smart phone is now easier than it has ever been. We're sure you'd like to hear both sides of the issue but right now all of the information on smart phones is positive.
