subject: Shower Stool - Tips For Purchasing A Shower Stool [print this page]

In the modern world, we can enjoy a variety of conveniences. This convenience extends to our taking an even more relaxing shower with the use of a shower stool. Some bathtubs and shower facilities come with a shower seat. Seats are great for people who want to sit down while shaving their legs. You can also simply sit and relax while water runs over you. Perhaps you aren't feeling very well. If you are feeling a bit faint before you get in the shower, you know you have the security of being able to sit and rest. Or if you become suddenly faint or nauseated while you are in the shower, you can also take advantage of this helpful tool.

Using a shower stool is a great tool for just about anyone who may need a moment, several minutes, or the entire shower time to sit or prop a leg up. For those who are wheelchair-bound, a shower seat can help a lot. Once on the seat in the shower, the individual has privacy and can wash him or herself. If an individual needs assistance while in the shower, a stool helps the assistant too. An assistant doesn't have to support the entire weight of the person they are helping in the shower with the use of a stool.

Some facilities provide shower stools and seats. Spas and other public washrooms are getting much better about this. The stools are either built in, or can be transferred to which ever shower stall they need to be used in. Many stools are light weight and easily moved. Others could require assistance to move, especially if the user is injured. Someone wearing a plaster leg cast, for instance, may require the use of more than one stool. This person would need one to sit on in the shower and another stool to prop up the casted leg outside the shower.

When considering the purchase of a shower stool or seat, explore the available brands and look for value as well as a good price. Check to see if there is a warranty available. You might also want to know if you have to construct the seat once it arrives, or if it will come ready to use. You could also check to see whether a stool comes in a color you prefer. Ask about the height of the stool and how to adjust it before you buy it. You might need a stool for a small child and mistakenly order a great stool that is just too tall for your needs.
