The earlier in the cycle of Lyme disease you are diagnosed, the easier it is to treat. If you catch the tick bite early on then clearing everything up shouldn't be too much of a problem. Treating and overcome Lyme disease can be more difficult if you are asymptomatic and don't realize you have the disease until it's in its later stages. Here are some treatment options to discuss with your doctor if you do contract Lyme disease.

Amoxicillin, or another similar antibiotic, is the first type of treatment used for Lyme disease. This treatment is most effective when the disease is caught early in it's life cycle. Ten days on antibiotics usually clears out this disease. Sometimes a three week cycle is needed if the disease is a little bit further into the first stage. Unfortunately, if you are in the later stages of the disease when it gets diagnosed, oral medications aren't going to do a whole heck of a lot for you. In most cases, antibiotics will be the first step; more intense measures are only used if needed. When you are the victim of Lyme disease you are going to experience a lot of pain. Unfortunately, this is one of those ailments that can have an effect on many different parts of your body - including your joints, muscles and brain. A lot of people who have Lyme disease have to endure a lot of muscle pain and headaches. The easiest Lyme disease treatment for these symptoms is an over the counter pain reliever like ibuprofen or Tylenol. These treatments won't entirely get rid of the disease (only strong medications that are prescribed can do that) however they can help you have a more effortless time at managing the symptoms.

I've heard someone say that there are certain foods that also work for treatment of Lyme Disease. This is called Food Therapy which is simply eating foods that help boost the immune system and help fight off disease and infection. For Lyme disease the foods you would want to concentrate on are foods that contain lots of Vitamin C or garlic. These ingredients are already known for boosting the immune system. This boost to the immune system will help your other medications work better. These are not meant to be taken alone, they are meant to be supplements.

The stage of the disease when discovered will limit what treatment options are available for you to choose from. If you catch it early enough the disease is pretty easy to treat and to cure. Treating it gets more difficult in the later stages or if it crosses into the brain. Keeping tabs on your health is essential for this reason. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice symptoms of this disease. Successful treatment depends on catching this disease as soon as possible.
