There are a few important rules that Marines follow to maintain the levels of fitness that they enjoy.

Consistency

Marines are consistently working out no matter what the weather is doing, how they feel or any other excuse that the normal person could come up with. They don't have the option to say, "I don't feel like working out today." It's too bad if they don't feel like working out because if the schedule says they are working out then this is what they will be doing. If we could follow a workout plan on a consistent basis, we would have the same successful results that they do.

Marines use basic exercises and achieve great results

Push-ups, pull-ups, crunches, jumping jacks and other Marine style exercises similar to these are all basic exercises that most of us have done at some point in our lives. They aren't hard to do, they don't require any complicated equipment and they can be done just about anywhere. Marines combine basic exercises with maximum intensity which allows them to achieve the greatest results possible.

They use a combination of strength training, calisthenics and cardiovascular exercises

Most all of Marine style fitness training involves a little bit of each of these types of training. Combining these types of training gives a great full body workout that is great for building muscle, losing fat and for all around health and fitness.

If you are looking to get in shape like a Marine, then sticking to the basics is the best thing to do. There is no need for overly complicated workout routines that will only leave you confused and frustrated. If you want to be in the best shape of your life, do what the Marines do and you won't have to worry.
