These days, the number of people suffering from hemorrhoids or piles is steadily on the rise. Improper food habits, addiction to tobacco, smoking and alcohol, as well as low physical activity, are some of the major reasons for this condition. The condition can be broadly classified under two categories, i.e. internal piles, and external piles. External Piles is a condition, which is marked by enlarged veins in the shape of soft lumps around the rectum. In case blood clots get developed, then in that case, this lump may become hard and cause great pain. The condition, in general is very painful, since the skin tissues surrounding the anal opening is heavily covered with nerve endings. Of the two forms of piles, external hemorrhoids is the most common one.

As it is, there are a number of options, as far as treatment for external piles is concerned. However, the natural remedies are more often recommended, as they do not have any side effects. It is therefore advisable, to increase the intake of fiber and roughage in your body. Food like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, pulses etc can be very beneficial in such a condition. You should also increase your intake of fluids, such as water, fruit juices, warm milk etc. Also, you must take care to indulge in an adequate amount of physical work. This would help you in getting rid of obesity, which is also a major cause, of such a condition. Stay away from junk foods, as well as tobacco and alcohol, as they too create hurdles in proper bowel functioning.

Apart from these, there are also a few clinical methods as well, which can be effective in the treatment of piles. The following are a few clinical methods, which can be used:

1. Infrared Photocoagulation

In this treatment procedure, an infrared light is directed towards the dilated veins of the affected area, for coagulating them. With this, the piles shrink and it is eventually treated.

2. Laser Coagulation

Under this treatment procedure, an electric current is passed through the hemorrhoids. This leads to the shut down of the blood supply and results in the piles to shrink.

Apart from the above methods, surgery is another option. Surgery can be conducted, by way of a scalpel, or by way of laser beams. In the recent times, laser surgery has become quite popular. However, it is quite expensive, as only the most experienced doctors are allowed to perform such a surgery. Yet, if you ask me, then natural remedies are definitely a great option to cure external hemorrhoids.
