subject: House Cleaning Business - Using The Internet For Advertising [print this page] I've mentioned in my house cleaning business training manual how house cleaning flyers are the no.1 promotional method.
Today however, I'm going to talk about how the Internet can be used effectively to advertise any cleaning business. If you don't use the Internet then you are still missing out on potential customers.
www.yell.com
I'm sure that you've heard of the Yellow Pages right? Well the online version (Yell) is becoming more and more popular so you should have a listing there.
Thompson Directory
This is another online directory which is the same as the offline version. As of writing this I believe you can get a free listing in the Thompson directory for a one-lineage ad. If this is still the case then it is definatley worth putting a free ad in there, however in my opinion, the Thompson directory is no where as popular as the YP so I wouldn't pay for a listing in this directory.
Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising
This is where you would place an advert in Google, Yahoo or MSN and you only pay when somebody clicks on your ad. you would normally only pay pennies per click but you could end up paying 1 or two. The best advise I could give you is to do some detailed research into PPC advertising and have a set budget. You could end up losing hundreds of pounds with this form of advertising, but when you get it right the benefits are amazing.
Word of Warning!
Lastly be aware that there are advertising sales people online who are just as aggressive as those who are offline. Once an advertising company sees your ad on their competitors' site, you then start getting bombarded with offers which sound very enticing. However, all these small offers amount to a large amount of money and the advertising will hardly yield you any new customers.
