The Palace Gianni-Lucchesini-Vegni is located in Via San Niccolo in Florence. The current configuration of this building is due to the union of other buildings of the fourteenth century, thanks to structural interventions that have followed over the years. The oldest part of the building is a thirteenth century tower house that in 1584 it still had the battlements crowning. The building belonged to the Gianni famili, a family from Bisticci
near Quarrata. The court still retains the look of the fourteenth century. Early eighteenth century architect Rudolf Giannozzi created a garden with a small artificial cave that still exists but in complete degradation. The building was sold for the first time during the period of the Kingdom of Etruria to Vittoria Daddi, wife of the Marquis of Bourbon Sorbello, then in 1828 was bought by Lucchesini, who commissioned the architect Giuseppe Martelli to remodernise of the entire building, giving the 'present appearance. In 1860 the owner of the palace became Angelo Vegni. In 1920 the building was bought by the moral Italica Gens, who divided it into apartments and gave it to rent, while a part of the building became a boarding school run by nuns who made the seventeenth century gallery on the first floor into a chapel. In 1980, the building was then bought by the City of Florence, which gave it on loan to the University of Florence since 1986.
