subject: Have A Lawyer Review Contracts [print this page]

Before I sign any contract I send it over to an attorney to have him review the terms and conditions of the document and approve or change any of the language that will protect me and my assets. By calling on the services of a lawyer in St George the residents of southern Utah can have the same assurances that I do, that my interests are protected under any legal document that I put my name to. While it may seem like a trivial matter, I have found that having my legal documents reviewed by a lawyer saves me time and money in the long run. While I am not in the practice of having to sign important papers every day, I have been able to avoid certain pitfalls with lenders as I have purchased a home and conducted my business.

While many people think to contact the St George lawyers when they have stumbled into trouble and found a debatable question of the law, I find that I can best avoid the higher costs of hiring a lawyer to resolve my concerns if I have the legal professional advise me before I enter a binding agreement. For issues over property lines, or the rights of others to come after me for some crazy claim that they are making, I will call my attorney and ask about the ramifications of my actions before declining to settle an argument. I once had a landlord who was asking me to pay for a new carpet six months after I had moved out and after another tenant had moved into the property. Although I was threaten with being taken to court, a quick phone call to my lawyer provided me with the ammunition to not only dismiss the landlord's claim, but gave me the presence of mind to countersue him if he persisted in his ridiculous course of action.

As I am an upstanding member of the community and follow the letter of the law at all times, I have found that I am better off asking the advice and counsel of someone that has a greater understanding of the law than I do. As I have established businesses and filed papers of incorporation I am always consulting with an attorney to make certain that I have not left myself open to any malicious attack. For anyone that has any question of legitimacy or ethical stands about a contract or other legal questions I urge you to contact a St George lawyer that can help to keep you working within the law and out of trouble.
