subject: Common patterns linked to Obesity [print this page]

It has been a very interesting journey so far in the area of Personal Training. I have been working with Genesis Fitness Club in Dandenong (Melbourne, Australia) since the last 3 months. It feels like a whole new world has opened for me which I was not aware of before. Right from things like understanding the Human Anatomy, importance of Strength Training, nutrition, new functional exercises helping everyday people become better at their everyday lives whether in sports, work or home etc have been some of them. Also, one thing which stands out out of all and probably deserves most focus in these modern times is the problem of obesity.

Everyday, I meet new members in the Gym who want to lose weight. Having seen and worked with many of them now and understanding their everyday patterns or routines by way of asking questions and showing empathy, I have identified a few here below and intend to cover each of these in my upcoming posts. I guess this skill of identifying patterns in me comes from the Master Trainer Tony Robbins who says repeatedly that "Success (or failure) leaves clues". So here are some of things common in people wanting to work on reducing their body fat levels:

They don't manage their stress levels well.

They have very little physical activity during the day.

They drink very less water.

They skip breakfast.

They skip meals and have irregular eating patterns.

They eat unhealthy foods and have little knowledge of what a good diet is.

Hopefully, this post has shed some light and probably a reminder on some of the things you can focus in your own lives to see if you are heading down this path and if yes, maybe take some steps to correct these.

Coaching inquiries: What issues you are facing in the area of your health? As you look at them, what pattern are you able to identify whether be external or mental or emotional? What steps have you taken to correct these? What has worked for you and what hasn't? Who is on your team to help you with these?
