Our new arrival of Surfer Tahitian pearl pendants have been a hit over the Christmas season. This design has been popular on the North Shore of Hawaii among surfers for at least 10 years and for good reason. This simple yet eye pleasing design can be worn with almost any clothing. Casual or dress this pearl pendant goes with almost anything. To make this piece of jewelry we start with rounded leather chord and then drill a Tahitian pearl to an extra large 1 or 2.2mm size. We have to drill the large hole in the pearl with special pearl drill bits with a special pearl drill machine so that the leather chord and fit in the pearls hole. Then we knot the leather so that it can be adjusted to fit all sizes from a choker to a longer style.

We have tried many different types of leather with this necklace and have found that soft round cow hide leather seems to work the best. Before we tried to make this style of surfer necklace with a waxed leather chord and did not wear as nicely. With a soft cow hide leather necklace the Tahitian pearl seems to wear nicely. For the pearl we like to use a Tahitian pearl that is quite large. The large pearl seems to make the best statement for this style of surfer leather pearl necklace. A big 13mm or 14mm Tahitian pearl in a drop baroque shape works the best. That way we can get a large pearl for the client without it being too expensive. This seems to be the most popular option as opposed to using a perfectly round Tahitian pearl because then the price would be way too high. That is why we like to use a big baroque Tahitian pearl for this type of pearl necklace.About the Author:
