There are lots of cool bars in Portland and here is a selection of http://www.thelocalmixr.com favorites. All of them feature some selection of local spirits and/or beer.
Vendetta:
Cheap beer and well drinks and daily specials make this a great budget bar. There is a large, attractive patio to enjoy on a nice day (it closes at 10pm). There is a jukebox during the week and live DJs every weekend as well as video poker and shuffleboard. The vibe is definitely hipster and it fills up on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Crow Bar:
This quaint hipster hangout on Mississippi Avenue is another great budget bar. The house wine is totally drinkable, poured liberally and costs just $3.50. On the weekends it can fill up with somewhat obnoxious college students who behave as if they are part of the Greek system, but during the week it's a great place to drink and chat. Recently, they opened there basement and they now have karaoke and live music several times per week.
Thatch:
Filled to the brim with decor from the old Trader Vic's, this fabulous little Tiki bar is a great escape from the rain. The Mai Tai is there special and is discounted during happy hour. Be careful though, all the drinks at Thatch are stiff and powerful.
Fats:
Though this place is definitely over-priced, but the decor is lovely and the selection of beer is fantastic. Of all the "British Pubs" in Portland, this one reminds me the most of my time working in a pub in the borough of Islington in London, UK. The food is tasty and authentic too.
