subject: Less Is More Approach To Quick Muscle Gain [print this page]

Increasing muscle mass quickly is wanted by many people. Most think that eating more and working out six days will do it. It is not wise to exercise almost every day of the week as it can cause harm to the body. Damage to the body can occur before muscle is gained. Too many days of exercising will not give you the muscle mass you are looking for.

A six day regimen for workouts puts the entire focus on frequency. This is not the ideal place for your focus. How much real effort you put into your workouts will be more significant than the number of times you workout. You will be putting in fewer workouts during the week, but you will be working much harder. A goal of fast muscle growth can be realized by following a similar schedule to the one that follows.

Weekday 1: Exercise upper body

Weekday 2: Exercise lower body

Weekday 3: Day of rest

Weekday 4: Exercise upper body

Weekday 5: Exercise lower body

Weekday 6: Day of rest

Weekday 7: Day of rest

You don't need, as you can see, six days of exercise a week when four will do. Another advantage to this pan is that, rather than focus on single muscle groups, the workouts can divide the body into to workout sections.

I would always recommend that a beginner not take such an aggressive route. The best advice I can give to a newcomer is to start with three workouts per week, and gradually increase to four.

Muscle growth will be faster if, as I recommend, you cut back on cardio routines. Since they are of no muscle building value, and mostly unnecessary, I recommend doing little or no cardio exercises at all. Some people feel they just have to do this, keep it to no more than three workouts of 20 minutes each week. Muscle development is your goal, not calorie burning.

Liquid calories need to be present in your regular diet. Getting enough carbs and protein will be essential for muscle growth. It is possible to improve your results by simply adding milk and yogurt to your diet. To develop muscles you need plenty of protein, and this is a great way to add it to you diet.

It is frequent that I get questions about supplements. Protein shakes and other supplements can, in fact, be a benefit to muscle growth. The best diet cannot provide any real amounts of creatine, an ingredient in the best supplements. Coming in an easy to use powder form, creatine can be a great benefit for muscle growth. Nutritious diet, high in protein, as well as four weekly workouts are the key to the muscle growing plan I have shown you.
