subject: Panic Attacks: My Experience [print this page] I suffered from panic attacks for almost 20 years of my life. These panic attacks came out of nowhere while I would be standing in a line at the grocery store, at home talking on the phone, or sitting in the dentist chair while getting my teeth cleaned.
I didn't know what panic attacks were at first and thought I was just having a bad day. Well, not just one bad day, but one bad day after another. It was horrible because my body would react to the panic attacks by producing more sweat than ever and it looked like I had just gotten out of the shower while my panic attacks were in full swing.
The only logical thing to do at the time when my panic attacks would occur is to hide out someplace where people couldn't see me. I mean, I sweat so much people would have thought I just robbed a bank or something. My mind was always playing tricks on what people were saying about me which made the panic attacks worst and they came on more often than not.
Eventually, I got the panic attacks under control by using meditation. Meditation is the key because it keeps your mind in the moment. By keeping your attention in the present moment, the anxious thoughts about the future don't enter your mind and therefore the panic from these future events can't keep you in bondage. After meditating on a daily basis for 30 minutes a day, my panic attacks have stopped and I'm now free as a bird and want to help others who also suffer with panic attacks.
So if you are a sufferer from panic attacks, just know that there is hope that you can defeat these with some focus, tips, and techniques. There are tools to help you remain calm throughout your day so you are not help prisoner like I used to be for 20 years of my life.
I'm now free of panic attacks, and you can be too!
