Many people would like to look slimmerMany people would like to look slimmer. One problem area that is very common for many people is having too much belly fat. This is a place that many men when gaining weight will store fat. For women, their naturally slim stomach will start to get bigger around the middle causing a less attractive look. If you want to reduce your belly fat, there are some simple steps to follow that will help you meet your goals.

First of all, don't fall into the trap of thinking that stomach exercises will make your stomach thinner. When you do exercises like crunches for example, you are strengthening the muscles in this area. This doesn't do much for the fat around your belly. You will have stronger abs which is good, but the belly fat will still remain.

Instead you need to focus on exercise that is going to burn fat. The best type of fat burning exercises are things like running, walking, cycling, or other forms of cardio. These will challenge larger muscle groups which will help you burn off more fat. It's a better way of spending your time exercising than just focusing on the ab workouts.

Change your diet. You will have to eat a healthier diet in order to get the results that you want. Cut out the bad foods that you know you shouldn't eat like fried foods. Also be sure that you cut out drinks with too many calories like sodas and alcoholic drinks especially.

There are many gimmicks that you will read about in magazines about losing multiple inches off your stomach in a few days. Stay away from these things. Most aren't based on reality and realistically are just helping you lose some water weight but not fat.

Stay disciplined. It's going to take more than a week or two to get results. Make at least a 6 month commitment to losing your belly fat.
