subject: How To Make Liposuction Affordable [print this page]

Liposuction (also known as lipoplasty and suction lipectomy) is a popular and well-known procedure. Hundreds of thousands of Americans get the surgery every year. For twelve out of the past thirteen years, this surgery has topped the lists as the number one most popular cosmetic surgery in America. The surgery enjoys a large degree of success in many other parts of the world as well.

When the surgery was first introduced, it was almost exclusively a surgery for the rich and famous. Since then, it has become more widespread, and more people from all walks of life have begun getting the surgery.

However, for many people, the costs remain prohibitive. The price of liposuction vary greatly on a number of factors, such as geographical region, the difficulty of the surgery, the area being operated on, the amount of fat being removed and the gender of the patient.

In virtually all cases, however, the price of a lipoplasty is measured in thousands, not in hundreds of dollars. And several thousand dollars can be a lot of money to spend on a cosmetic procedure, especially in today's economy. Some people want to get the surgery, but just don't think that they can afford it. And given that the surgery is almost never covered by health insurance (except in some specialized cases involving liposuction breast reductions), it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to pay for your surgery either.

For people who don't think they can afford the surgery but don't think that they can wait either, there are some options available. For many surgeries, there is the possibility of getting some sort of financing to cover it. This can be a good thing to check out, and it can be good to examine a number of potential sources of financing.

Probably the best place to start looking for financing is with your surgeon or surgical center. People who work in the cosmetic surgery business are used to people needing financing for their surgeries. Sometimes, they offer in-house financing themselves. Other times, they have good relationships with local businesses that are willing to offer financing for cosmetic surgeries. In any case, chances are very good that they will be able to help you to find out ways of financing your surgery.

However, you should be aware that you should possibly not just go with the financing your surgeon provides without checking around a little. Different financing venues will have different interest rates and different terms, and it's possible that another financing option could fit you better. If neither your surgeon nor local businesses pan out, there are also a number of businesses which operate on a national level that offer help financing cosmetic surgeries.
