subject: What Is The Best Imitation iPad? [print this page]

There's no question that there's a slew of imitation iPad clones to chose from today. Some people might chose to call them "fake" and that's OK. But I believe imitation is the better term because there's nothing fake about the features or performance of many of these higher end imitators.

Granted, there's a wide range in the quality of these models. There's also a wide range of prices. You can get a basic imitation tablet that cost $50 or even less but which is also somewhat bulky and heavy and has a slow processor, limited memory, and an old or unheard of operating system. That's not to say there's not a market for these cheaper models. There most definitely is. Students, younger folks, or people who are only going to be light users are often quite thrilled with even the bare bones, no frills models.

But, many of the people who write to me really want the closest iPad imitation on the market. They want the model that runs and is modeled most closely to the original and they're willing to pay a little more for it. In my opinion, the model that fits this bill is the iPed with the rockchip processor.

I like this model because it looks very close to the original. It is thin, sleek, and responsive. It is extremely fast because of it's rock chip processor and it has none of the lag of the models with less memory or a slower chip. You can do all of the sought after functions on it like watching YouTube, playing music and movies, word processing, surfing the web, reading ebooks, updating Facebook, checking email, making calls and texting, and the like.

Plus, it has a camera and web cam, a USB port to hook up a portable keyboard or 3G dongle if you want one and expandable memory via SD card. This iPed runs on the android operating system so it's an extensive open source that offers endless apps and is growing. To me, it offers the best of both worlds. It usually costs around $150, but this price may go down as time goes on. Also, there are already plentiful accessories and support available for this model as it's become quite popular.
