subject: The Economics of Islam [print this page] The Economics of Islam Publish Date: 08/06/2010 All of life is perception-we see with our brains not our eyes. We hear with our brains. We taste with our brains and as we "chew" on all these observations, we put them into a context that we can understand-and that gives us perception.
It is a fact that many people in the world fear Christians and others fear Muslims. The differences in the fears is amazing. Those that fear Christians fear the idea of independence, of fair mindedness and of democracy. Of loss of power. Those things include the concept of sexual rights, drinking and other cultural things that many people enjoy. The political environment of Asia is that the central committee, that failed in Russia, is alive and well and whatever rules that exist in Asia are created by a central committee and as such assure that all people will be held accountable to those rules. The fact that universities which teach thinking skills are filled with quality students is not relevant; the student knows his political limitations.
The Muslim world permits drugs, permits and demands limitations on what women can do and permits economic systems that protect the concept of bribery.
Radical Muslims are taught from an early age that any thoughts or practices that do not match the Mosque are harmful to people world-wide. To give women rights is against their religious leader. It is not logical to ask why the restriction, only that, just like with the Bible and with pure Christianity, however the church/Mosque leaders interpret their book, that is how their citizenry will live....or the judicial will have them executed.
This author thought he would take a radical perspective and see what the world would look like if the Muslims got their way and the entire world, within one week, was forced to live like Radical Muslims or even Muslims according to this or that Imam.
First, all women throughout the world, would be given 1 week to dispose of their businesses if they had such. This would put over 100 million businesses up for sale immediately. It would also jeopardize the relationships those women have created with their suppliers and customers.
Next, all liquor would cease to be made or consumed. Even wine which is good for the body. That would cost 100,000 jobs and shut down over a million bars and cafes world-wide.
Next, all men would have to wear specific clothes that match the Muslim world. Fashion designers would lose their jobs, clothing stores as we know them on earth would disappear.
Work efficiency would be reduced immediately as workers stopped working 3 times a day to pray.
[Why there are exceptions is confusing.]
Women's fashions would no longer be made. Women would have to hide their faces. That stops a $100 billion industry right in its tracks.
Unemployment would go from a world figure of perhaps 20% to 35% immediately. The few who would be needed to make Muslim clothes would eat up less than 1% of that new unemployed.
Universities world wide would lose 65% of their students [some Arab nations do permit women to go to college and to work.....but not those run by the Taliban.]
With Democracy and Christianity replaced by Socialism and Islam, laws protecting people would disappear. With such, there would be no reason to invent things. No improvements in anything. Compare the infrastructure in any Arab nation to that of a European nation or the US; the Arab infrastructure barely exists; few roads are built, few water resources exist, few sewers, and entertainment is almost non-existent. Thus, another $100 billion industry disappears.
With no reason to innovate, with no benefit going to those more effective in business than sloths, business profits plummet and the world, within 90 days, goes into an economic tailspin. Soon, we have 50+ % unemployment as it is in most Arab nations. This unemployment is not an accident. It is a logical consequence of restrictive laws, no individual legal protections, and taking half of the world population out of the equation in all analysis.
Shortly, as occurs in Arabic nations now and as has been occurring for thousands of years, instead of total acceptance of a congress of Imams, there would be splinter groups either compromising Shiite or Sunni or those would be pressed into a new name with a new autocratic leader.
Since most Arabic police choose not to go to small Island nations to enforce their Muslim views, perhaps those who choose not to follow the Taliban restrictive life style will go to small -isolated nations and return to or simply keep up the agnostic or Christian life style that
seems to make more sense to freedom seeking people.
It is funny that dictators or Imams or Kings, as the case may be, don't worry about repressing previously won-earned freedoms. Sometimes, living on top of a luxury resort or mountain top home is sufficient motivation for Kings and Imams. Sometimes, "serving" their Mohammad religious leader is sufficient. Sometimes, forcing others to follow THIS WAY is sufficient. The fact that the world would be in a perpetual stage of hunger, need, fear and restriction, seems irrelevant to those Imam leaders.
Interesting.
While I do agree that the idea of a heaven in the next life is tantalizing, most of us prefer living the best life we can while mortal and we prefer not having to suppress others to reach our lifestyle.
