subject: ANNUAL PUMPKIN LAND FESTIVAL CREATES COLORFUL & PRICELESS FAMILY TRADITIONS AT HEAVEN HILL FARM [print this page] Ten acres of fun on the farm for the whole family awaits festival goers at the 2010 Pumpkin Land Festival at Heaven Hill Farm in Vernon, New Jersey. Enjoy a variety of country-style family entertainment beginning September 18- October 31, 2010 including Monday, Columbus Day.
The festival will kick off with loads of affordable family activities and events. Hayrides to the pumpkin patch take off throughout the day and travel along the scenic countryside showcasing the rich history and the beautiful landscape of the Vernon Valley.
Once the hayride makes a stop at one of the pumpkin patches, relish the time spent in the crisp autumn air on a rewarding pumpkin picking expedition. Make it a family tradition to leisurely walk amongst the fields of pumpkins to find that perfect one to take home to carve. After the hayride, find your way through the cornfield maze, visit with our friendly farm animals, and much more including:
Pigtucky Derby Pig Races
Hay Maze
Hay Crawl
Corn Box (resembles a child's sand box)
Glass Bee Hive
Boo Barn
"Chicken Little" Chick Barn
Dancing Robot Show
Duck Racing
Vortex Tunnel
"We place great emphasis on tradition building here at Heaven Hill. All of our farm events are catered to really make for a great day of family fun," says Phyllis Emmerich, Outdoor Lifestyles Manager. "Huge efforts of planning, organizing and constructing event activities like those available at the Pumpkin Land Festival are all worthwhile when we hear children's laughter and see their smiles as they take a pony ride, have their faces painted, spin on the carnival rides, pick out their Halloween costume, snack on ice cream. This festival is such an opportunity to connect families through good old-fashioned fun," Emmerich adds with enthusiasm.
New to the festival this year is the What The Hay contest where contestants will create artwork out of hay bales on opening weekend. From 9:00 am 5:00 pm on Saturday, Sept. 18 and from 9:00 am 3:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 19, teams will work with creative verve to make their hay bale sculpture a contender for great prizes and bragging rights. Judging will take place on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 4:00 pm. All What The Hay art sculptures will remain on display for the duration of the Pumpkin Land Festival.
Other not-to-miss highlights available in addition to admission into Pumpkinland include panning for gem stones at the Gem Mining sluice, face painting, sand art, pony rides, carnival rides and snacking on delicious festival style food & drink.
Make the thrills and chills last into the night. Brave an insufferable journey into the shadows of Sussex County's only deserted village of darkness on an open aired hay ride. Venture along the trails of the Haunted Acres Hayride every Friday and Saturday night from 7-10 pm from October 1-30, 2010. Visit the NEW Haunted Acres Hayride website for more information...going live late this September.
