subject: Use Fragile Packaging Tape As An Added Protection [print this page]

If you are sending anything that is valuable or that can break easily through the post or putting it into storage then you want to make sure that the items don't get damaged. There are a number of protective products that you can buy to give cushioning and physical protection to your goods. However, one of the best things that can be bought is fragile packaging tape to stick around the outside of the cardboard box that you use.

It is all well and good packing your items securely in a sturdy box but if the people handling the package don't know that the contents may break then they may be heavy handed with it. For this reason you should make sure that any fragile goods are clearly marked so that people will know to be careful with them. If a courier sees a parcel that is marked with distinctive red and white tape then straight away they can tell that whats inside may be damaged if not handled correctly.

You still need to make sure that you pack you items correctly though just in case they do suffer any minor bumps or falls. A strong box should be used to put the items in to give some external protection. For the inside of the package you should wrap your goods in a good cushioning material such as bubble wrap. You could also fill the box with scrunched up newspaper or packing peanuts to give even more protection.

Whatever it is you are sending, if you make sure that you clearly label things with fragile packaging tape then it will greatly increase the chances of your package arriving in the right condition. Failing to do this may end up leaving you to literally pick up the pieces when the package is opened.
