subject: Microsofts Kinect expensive? How about getting it for free? [print this page]

That is what all of us Xbox fans would like right? Microsoft has confirmed the release for their revolutionary addition to gaming. Kinect, a controller free gaming experience. Kinect utilises two cameras which are able to accurately transform your movements into in game commands, a similar product you may be familiar with is Sony's "Eye Toy" which delivered at a much lower scale than Kinect surely will. The Eye Toy never grabbed consumer interest but Kinect seems lik it will be successful having grabbed the interest of many audiences with it's launch game previews. Dance Central being the number one attraction.

Kinect is constantly proving that is something to be taken seriously and already looks as though it will defeat it's competitor the Playstation "Move", and accessory which closely resembles Nintendo's WiiMote though it is apparently far more accurate providing 1:1 control. The winner will likely be decided by the library of games and Kinect already seems to be ahead. Dance central will likely appeal to the already huge Dance Dance Revolution crowd(DDR) and taking a similar approach that Guitar hero brought to gaming providing and experience closer to the real thing.

Kinect has been priced at $150, expensive right? But even at this price it's still appealing but spending that much on a gaming accessory is far from economic for most. I'd much rather get it for free, legally by the way I don'trecommendthat you rob your nearest Gamestop. Well I've been doing my research and getting Kinect for free doesn't seem so far fetched, because I found out how it is 100% possible.

The site I linked above is where I got the majority of my information. It tells of a site that will allow me to earn points and exchange them for gifts. Kinect is one of the many gifts I can redeem, and I am well on my way to doing so. The site asks you to complete surveys and offers(of which does not require you spend any money), for each completed offer you earn a set amount of points equivalent to the US dollar. Earn enough for your prize and it becomes available to redeem. A simple task really and a fair exchange since the prizes are funded by the advertisers whose offers you complete.

Back on to Kinect, why do I want it so much? Well KInect has proven to me that it can and will deliver. The game that caught my interest the most was Child Of Eden a game from the creator of Zen and Space channel 5, it is a game claiming to deliver a "Sensual Gaming Experience" quoted from the creatorTetsuya Mizuguchi. And the previews proved just that. It's a shooter but does not take the same appearance as the current gore fests. Instead Child of eden is a very visual experience creating bright colours and beautiful shapes like what you would see with a visual equalizer(music). Which suits the game well as another main feature of the game is the integration of music and gameplay.

Child of Eden is the Kinect game I am most looking forward to, I'll be able to get Kinect and Child of Eden for free.
