subject: How To Install A Big Satellite Dish [print this page]

A big satellite dish is available in C-Band in which a 10-foot diameter dish is used to receive satellite programming. A C-Band satellite system is controlled by a receiver that moves a dig to the correct position to locate a satellite. C-Band satellite requires a connection from the dish to a receiver to provide power, as well as process the video and audio signal. A big satellite dish can be hooked up, providing all of the connections are made properly.

Instructions

1.Step 1

Make sure the cable is connected properly to the dish. There are multiple connections that need to be made, which include the LNB and the motor. The cable that is used comes in one piece that makes hooking it up to the dish easier.

2.Step 2

Connect the coax cable connection to the LNB on the tip of the dish. The cone that covers the LNB will need to be removed to connect the coax cable. Use zip ties to secure the coax cable snugly to the dish.

3.Step 3

Connect the small wires to the motor or servo. Refer to the instructions for the motor to see how the wires should be connected. The wires that connect to the motor are for power, as well as the for the movement of the dish up and down and right to left.

4.Step 4

Connect the coax cable connection to the receiver. A receiver can have two inputs for a coax cable. Make sure the cable is connected to the C-Band input on the receiver. And the input will be connected with the Maxpeak Satellite Meter so that you can measure the signal quality in milliseconds.

5.Step 5

Connect the small wires to the proper terminals on the receiver. In addition, to process the satellite signal, the receiver also controls the movement of the dish. Refer to the instructions on the receiver for the proper placement of the wires.

6.Step 6

Connect the receiver to a television to see if there is a signal. Once the receiver has been set up, it will be necessary to run an auto program feature on the receiver to locate all of the available satellites. Press the menu button on the remote control, and look for the set-up option.
