Do you need to maintain your timber cladding wall ? First, we need to clean your walls. I will assume that we are not talking about interior acoustical wall panels but external timber cladding . For this, you will need some tools, a large hand held spray bottle, a soft bristled brush, a garden hose, a handsaw, utility knife, hammer, galvanized nails and a power washer. Rental companies offer power washers by the hour or by the day in most cities.

In the spray bottle mix four parts water with one part bleach. Spray areas that have dark stains or black streaks and let this sit for a few minutes. If galvanized nails were not used initially, there may be streaks at every nail. Take your garden hose and spray the outside concentrating on the stained areas. If stains persist, spray again and scrub with a soft bristled brush. Now attach the wide fan nozzle to the power washer and spray the outside making sure to stay 2 feet away from the siding or you will cause damage to the wood. Now that the wood is clean, it is time to look for sections that need repaired.

First, make sure the wood has had time to dry completely. When you find a section that needs repaired remove the nails holding it in place. Use that section to measure the new replacement section. With your handsaw cut the wood and slide it into place making sure to secure it with galvanized nails and you have repaired your external timber cladding.
